A seasoned chef with over 20 years of experience in the culinary arts, Chef Derek Douthwaite is committed to delivering great food and service to his guests. Chef Derek is a Muskegon native who spent ten years of his career training with Certified Executive Chef Steven Johnson. In that time he gained extensive knowledge of a variety of specialties including fine dining, fast casual, Italian, butchery, breads, and banquets. It is this dynamic experience that allows Chef Derek to experiment with fusion flavors, and create distinct menu items that bring people back to Third Street Grille again and again. Throughout his career Chef Derek has managed kitchens in a number of venues including country clubs, restaurants, resorts, and hotels. His talent and passion for food has won him awards in local food competitions as well as a feature in Grand Rapids Magazine.


Third Street Grille is located in the heart of Downtown Muskegon inside the Holiday Inn and Conference Center. Our menu features a variety of food styles including; new American, traditional American, Italian, seafood, and buffets. Chef Derek is always experimenting with fusion flavors and new seasonal menu items.
